Learning Basic Strategy
When first learning Basic Strategy consider spending at least 30 minutes a day practicing. A reasonable guideline to use when first starting is to adhere to the following schedule:
- 10 minutes – hit/stand drills
- 10 minutes – split drills
- 10 minutes – soft hand drills
Normally, it should take 8 to 10 hours of study to learn the complete Basic Strategy chart. Remember, it’s important you don’t guess when practicing the exercises. If unsure about a particular play, stop and review your chart instead of guessing. Checking, instead of guessing, will help the learning process. .
