Blackjack rules

Many folks who have visited Las Vegas years ago sometimes wish for the good old days when the Rat Pack was there, or the $2 blackjack games were common on the strip and the 99 cents scrimp cocktail was available in almost all casinos. How about the old single deck blackjack games? Wouldn’t it be fun to see that old time stuff come back? Well, casinos want you to think they have come back. They are taking advantage of the myth among casual blackjack players that "single deck games always offer better odds for the players". What casinos have recently done is return to the old single deck, but they have changed some of the rules. What they offer now, with single deck, is to pay only 6 to 5 for a blackjack. Normal blackjacks pay 3 to 2, and when figured in with other rules, it reduces the house edge to less than one percent. The 6 to 5 game gives the house advantage of 1.45%, which is more than eight times the advantage the casino has on a normal game. They have allowed some better rules but not enough to off set this big house edge. Avoid this game at all cost.
