Quick Start strategy for blackjack
In the game of blackjack, there are 340 different dealer-player card combinations that can be received during any round of play. Using the system, commonly called, “Basic Strategy” it will take anywhere from eight to twelve hours to memorize all the different combinations and than be able to know what specific action to take; hit, stand, double down or split. To help speed up the learning process I’ve listed a shorten version I call “Quick Start Strategy for Blackjack”. By the way, you will find, as you get proficient at blackjack, there is not really much difference between you holding 13, 14 or 15, which are “little” hands, verses dealers up card of ten, which is a “big” hand. You know you have to hit when receiving any of those specific hands. In addition, because the dealer must hit a 16, and below, and stand on 17, and above, we now know what makes up a dealers “little hand” (2 through 6) and what is a “big hand” (7 though ace) The same numbers apply to the player. For example, when we get a 12 through 16, we also have a “little hand”. The same is true for a “big hand”, 17 through 20. Understanding the concept of little verses big, here is the Quick Start Strategy for Blackjack:
Little (player) to little (dealer) = stand
Little (p) to big (d) = hit (until hard 17)
Always split aces and 8’s
Don’t split 4’s, 5’s or 10’s
Always hit or double A6
Double 11 vs dealers 2-10
Double 10 vs dealers 2-9
Don’t take insurance
Don’t take even-money
Increase you bet when winning
Reduce you bet when losing
