Craps, the best and worst bets
If you expect to beat the house at casino craps, you need to know which are good bets you can make and which ones to avoid. You can beat the house in the short run by making the bets discussed below and than taking your wins and leaving the table quickly. Keep in mind that the longer you stay the more the house edge will get to your bankroll.
1. Adding odds to the pass line bet after a point is established is considered the best bet in the entire house. Known as the invisible bet, since it is not marked on the layout, it is a bet that should always be made
2. Always Place the 6 and 8. Don’t bet the Big 6 or 8, because the house will only pay even money, but placing the 6 and 8 will get you a better pay off of 7 for 6.
3. Stay away form Field bets. These one-time wagers have a high house edge of 11 %.
4. Only play in casinos that offer 2 times odds or better. With single odds the house edge is 0.80 percent against you. Two times odds reduce the edge to only 0.60 percent. In theory with this low edge you should only lose 60 cents per hundred dollars played.
5. Remember, every hand will end in a 7-out. If you insist on leaving your bets on the table until the 7-out and relying on the length of the hand to make you a winner, you’ll end up losing it all.
6. Just like other games, winning streaks in craps will happen. Shooters will start to make numbers and hold the dice for lots or rolls. You need to take advantage and increase the size of you wagers when that happens. The opposite is true when players get cold and 7-out after one or two rolls. When you see that happening reduce the size of your bets.
