Basic Blackjack

As I visit casinos all around the country, I’m still surprised how some people play the game of blackjack. I see them make bad moves like splitting sevens against a ten, and hitting 13 against dealers six up card. Remember, the real objective of blackjack is not to get closer to 21 than the dealer; it is to beat the dealer. You can beat the dealer by standing on a 12 or 13 when the dealer     busts. It’s important to remember the dealer must hit 16 and below, and stand on 17 or higher. The key is you don’t have to hit a 13, but the dealer does. If you want to play blackjack successfully, learn what is commonly called “basic strategy”. It tells you when to hit, stand, split and double down and do it at the correct time. Only by playing basic strategy can you expect to “beat the dealer.”
