Taking care of your playing cards

Do you have cards at home that are getting dirty and soiled? If they are plastic ones like the Kem’s, you can make them almost like new again. All they need is a little cleaning. By the way, you can’t clean paper cards; like those found in the casino on the blackjack tables, they will fall apart. It’s even been reported that cleaning plastic cards regularly can increase their life by a third. If they are not too bad you can wipe them with a damp cloth and dry them immediately with a towel. With real dirty ones use cool water, mild soap (not detergent) and a soft cloth. Wash a dozen cards at a time, both sides. Rinse in cool water, immersing them only long enough to remove suds. Dry immediately and carefully with towel or clothe. Spread them out and let them air dry thoroughly before storing. Playing cards will curl or become unsightly if put away while they are still damp.
