Blackjack or twenty-one, which is it’s “official“ name, is different from most other games the casino offers because it is a game of dependent events. What that means is the cards that remain in a deck are dependent on which ones have already been played or been removed from that deck previously. This fact is what makes blackjack a game of skill; in fact, the skill factor is so great that if you use the correct strategies, in addition to some card counting, you can beat the casino most of the time. This is the reason casinos will ask you to leave the blackjack table if they think you are a “card counter.” It’s important to understand that card counting is not illegal in any casino, but casinos abide by the old English law that says, “Management has the right to refuse service,” therefore; you can be denied the privilege of playing blackjack in their casino. Here is what it boils down to. Using basic strategy and some card counting will move the house advantage from a positive one to a negative one; thereby, giving you, the player, the edge. You cannot do that with any other game in a casino. Get yourself a good book like The World’s Greatest Blackjack Book by Lance Humble or some other popular blackjack book; read it, study it and play it.
